For an end to violence against indigenous women, the III Indigenous Women’s March will take to the streets of Brasilia on Wednesday (13/09)

The mobilization began on September 11 with a gathering of more than 6,000 women from all Brazilian biomes at Funarte

More than 6,000 indigenous women from different peoples, territories and biomes will occupy the streets of Brasilia (DF) on Wednesday, September 13. With the theme “Women Biomes in Defense of Biodiversity through Ancestral Roots”, they will walk from 8am (Brasília time) from the National Arts Foundation (Funarte) to Praça das Bandeiras to demand an end to violence against indigenous women and their rightful place in society.

The mobilization is part of the programme for the III Indigenous Women’s March, organized by the National Articulation of Indigenous Women Warriors of Ancestry (ANMIGA), and brings together indigenous women from various parts of the world to promote gender equality, the defence of women’s rights and the preservation of indigenous cultures.

The largest gathering of indigenous women began last Monday (11/09) at Funarte and ends on the 13th with the concert “A Cura Do Mundo Somos Nós”, which will feature indigenous women artists and guests.

“At the heart of this march is a powerful call for equal rights for indigenous women. These women have faced countless challenges and injustices throughout their lives, but they refuse to continue to be silenced. We demand access to quality healthcare, education and economic opportunities. We fight for the protection of land and natural resources, which have been exploited for far too long. We advocate an end to violence against indigenous women, a widespread problem that has plagued our communities for generations,” says ANMIGA.
